Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do garden design?

We specialise in garden maintenance — helping you to look after your garden space. We don’t do garden design, but there are excellent garden designers in Scotland and you can search the Society of Garden Designer’s database. Based in Helensburgh, Rachel Bailey Garden Design is one of the garden designers who does cover Cowal.

I’m not sure if I’m into wildlife, I just need my garden tidied up. Can you help?

Yes, absolutely. We know that all clients are different. While we love working with people who love their plants and wildlife, it’s not essential!

Can you cut our grass too?

Yes, we can do a range of tasks in your garden. We can cut your grass and trim your hedges, as well as weeding your flower borders, pruning your roses, planting your bulbs and reclaiming lost areas of the garden.

Can you take away our garden waste?

Yes, we can. But we do also recommend that our customers invest in a home composting system. You’ll not only have a regular supply of nutritious compost for your plants, but it’ll also save you money. Instead of paying for waste to be removed, you’ll be making your own compost. Read some reviews of compost bins here.

Why WILDLIFE-FRIENDLY gardening?

We wanted to offer gardening services that we would want to hire ourselves. We recognise that more and more gardeners have a similar ethos to ourselves – they care about our natural world, and want their garden to be rich in plantlife and wildlife. Therefore, we garden in a way that is sensitive to nature and can offer advice and tips to make your garden more wildlife-friendly if you are interested!

Why is being wildlife friendly important?

We live in a country which has lots of wonderful wildlife – from the cute hedgehog to the soaring eagle. But our species are declining and the UK is now one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. In every garden, we can do something about that. By planting shrubs that birds can nest in, and flowers that bees and butterflies can feed from, and a pond for frogs to bask in, we are doing our small part.

And nature is not only good for the planet, it is also good for our health! In particular, for our mental health and our general wellbeing.

How much do you cost?

It depends what you are after! We keep our prices reasonable and affordable for both you the customer and for us so that we can keep providing our services. We can come for a weekly visit, monthly or a one-off. We can come any where from 2 hours to a full day. Depending on our availability, we can be flexible. If you are looking for a regular slot, it’s best to get in touch with us as early as possible in the year to ensure a place. Get in touch for a free no-obligation quote.

Can you help me add new plants to my garden?

Yes, we can provide a planting advice service. This could be providing you with some ideas for a new planting area or what to plant to add extra interest to your garden or to increase the biodiversity of your space.

I try to help the environment by recycling and things like that. How can i be more sustainable in my garden?

We’re developing a gardening blog just for that. Read our article on Five easy steps to more sustainable gardening for ideas. We’re always happy to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to get in touch any time.
